Al Snyder

Owner of Make A Statement Racing, LLC

Al Snyder was born in 1975 in Madison, IN and grew up nearby in southern Indiana.  He has always loved the outdoors and sports.  As a child and teenager, he looked for ways to develop and challenge his athletic skills by participating in track, cross country, basketball, baseball, and football.

Upon his high school graduation, Al joined the United States Army.  He joined the Army as a way to see new places, learn new things, challenge himself, and pay for college.  Al graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1999.  After graduating from college, Al continued his military career and has now been a soldier for nearly fifteen years.

As already mentioned, Al has always been attracted to anything that would challenge him.  During his military career, Al has jumped out of planes, repelled out of helicopters, navigated through treacherous terrain in all kinds of conditions (including swamps, mountains, desserts, rain, snow, sleet, hail, sand storms, and darkness), completed numerous Army training schools, and served his country in combat.  Needless to say, in all of this, Al has been challenged—challenged both physically and mentally.

Not only does Al enjoy pushing himself to the limit, he also enjoys inspiring others to do the same.  He has organized multiple endurathon events for soldiers.  He organized a large scale event held at Ft. Knox, KY in February 2005.  This event consisted of a physical fitness test, an obstacle course, a canoe race, a land navigation component, a marksmanship competition, and a twenty mile trek while carrying thirty pounds of weight.  This event had over two hundred participating soldiers and attracted media coverage.  Al also organized endurathon events for soldiers at Ft. Campbell, KY and Ft. Benning, GA.

In recent years, Al has also looked outside of the Army for new ways to challenge himself.  His search led him to the discovery of adventure racing.  Adventure racing has now been a hobby of his for several years.

Al’s vision for Make A Statement Racing grew out of his love of the outdoors, love for competition, and love for new challenges, as well as his experience designing endurathon events and enjoyment participating in adventure races.  Through Make A Statement Racing, Al hopes to provide well-organized, challenging, safe, and fun events, not only for soldiers, but for anyone who shares his passion for running, jumping, climbing, hiking, biking, and paddling in nature’s playground!  In addition, Al also hopes to put together a team of adventure racers to represent and be sponsored by Make A Statement Racing and who would compete in non-Make A Statement Racing events.

If you are looking for new ways to challenge yourself or have interest in trying out for the Make A Statement Racing adventure racing team, Al invites you to come race with Make a Statement Racing!
